Sami Al Jundi
As time goes on one begins to realize that our human identity is wider and more important than our national identity. I realized that the circle of our identity as Israelis and Palestinians is narrow, and if we confine our thinking to within this circle, we will never reach the wider circle- the global circle of humans as humans.
A long-time advocate of non-violence, Sami Al Jundi is the supervisor of the Seeds of Peace center in Jerusalem. This organization is devoted to bringing youth from various conflict zones together, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. During the eighties, Sami spent ten years in Israeli prison for his involvement with a militant group. During that time, he read numerous books about conflict situations around the world, which greatly influenced his embrace of non-violence as a means of tackling the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Sami Al Jundi is featured in Just Vision's documentary film, Encounter Point.
