Women on the Front Lines in East Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah Neighborhood Weekly protests against Israeli Jewish settlers' gradual take-over of Palestinian homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem continue. Palestinian residents demonstrate alongside Israeli activists in what the Israeli high court recently ruled legal demonstrations, though dozens have been arrested. New Green Power for Caves in the South Hebron Hills
In early March, the Palestinian residents of six communities who make their homes in caves and tents in the South Hebron Hills will begin getting power from cutting-edge wind turbines and solar panels. Electric churns and refrigeration will double residents' income from dairy products, and students will be able to do their homework after dark. Profile: Yafit Gamila Biso Syrian-born Israeli citizen Yafit Gamila Biso has made it her life's work to help Palestinian children who are getting hospital treatment in Israeli hospitals. For the past eight years, Biso has used her native Arabic to translate for Israeli doctors. She has driven Palestinian children across checkpoints and held their hands in Israeli operating rooms when their parents were not granted permits to accompany them.
