Kibbutz
A community established by and for Jews and based on communal property. Members have no private property, but share the work and the profits of some collective enterprise, typically agricultural and sometimes industrial. Kibbutzim (plural for kibbutz) were initially founded in Palestine prior to World War I and based on socialist ideals. Currently, most kibbutzim are located in Israel, along with some in the West Bank; many have become privatized in the last few decades.
