Katsav, Moshe
(1945- ) A Jewish Israeli political figure of Iranian origin. Katsav was a member of the Likud party and began his political career as a member of the Israeli parliament in 1977. Some of his ministerial positions include the Minister of Labor and Welfare from 1984-1988, Transportation Minister from 1988-1992 and Deputy Prime Minister and Minster of Tourism from 1996-1999. Katsav became President of Israel, a position with very few executive powers, in 2000. He held that position until his resignation in 2007 amid allegations of raping a former government employee.
