Beilin Yossi

(1948- ) A Jewish Israeli media and political figure. Beilin worked at the Israeli newspaper Davar from 1969-1977. He left media to become the spokesperson of the Labor party. Entering the Israeli parliament in 1988, he served for 11 years and then held the position of Minister of Justice from 2000-2001. Beilin was instrumental in the early stages of the Oslo Process and is one of the authors of the non-governmental, non-binding Israeli-Palestinian Geneva Accord. In 2004, he left the Labor party and joined the Meretz party, serving in the Israeli parliament again from 2006-2008. Though he left politics all together in 2008, he is still involved with the Geneva Initiative.
