Host a House Party

*Please note, Budrus is not yet available on DVD or for house party screenings.  Please sign our mailing list to be notified of the DVD release.

For Encounter Point, a house party works best if you have less than 15 people who want to watch a film, have a discussion, and perhaps get involved in some form of activity.

If you are the host, please purchase a copy of the DVD through Typecast Releasing. We strongly suggest making a donation of $150 to Just Vision. This donation is tax-deductible and goes directly to further our work. Groups larger than 15 are asked to pay the community screening fee. Please download a two-page Encounter Point guide, which includes discussion topics and ideas for getting involved.  We appreciate your passing around a sign-in sheet to give your guests the opportunity to stay informed about Just Vision's projects.  After the screening, mail the sign-in sheet back to Just Vision: 1616 P Street NW, Suite 340, Washington, DC 20036. Purchase your copy of the DVD and notify Just Vision of your house party screening and date so we can track the use of our film. Make a donation to Just Vision.

Before the screening, sure you have adequate seating (not more than 15 people), check that the DVD works in your player and make sure the subtitles at the bottom of the picture can be read from every seat.  You will have to select subtitles via the DVD menu before you play the film. If you are planning to use a computer, LCD projector and screen or wall, you will probably need external speakers, since neither the projector nor the computer’s speakers are adequate for a room full of people. Test your equipment well ahead of the event. Remember that bodies absorb sound so you may need to boost the volume once your guests arrive. If you are holding your event in daylight hours, make sure you can darken the room.
