I want to organize a screening outside of the USA, Canada, Australia, the UK, Israel and Palestine. How can I do it?
We have a sliding scale for screening fees outside the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.
Please contact info(at)justvision.org with your inquiry.
We have a version of the film with simultaneous subtitles in Arabic, Hebrew and English. It comes in DVD, digibeta PAL, beta SP PAL, and VHS and runs 80 minutes. The official DVD released by Typecast Films includes subtitles in Portuguese, French, Arabic, Hebrew and English.
I am an educator outside of Israel or Palestine and would like to show the film to my class.
We have a sliding scale for screening fees outside the Israel, Palestine, the US, Canada, Australia and the UK. Please contact info(at)justvision.org with your inquiry.
If I pay for a screening, do I get to keep a copy of the film?
No, the screening fee is just for public performance rights for the specific screening. You are welcome to buy a copy of the official DVD for personal use. Performance rights still require you to pay a fee to show the film publicly.
How do I invite a filmmaker to my screening?
We cannot accept all invitations as our travel schedule is quite full, but we will work with you and do our best to fulfill your requests. Our four filmmakers are based in New York, Jerusalem and Washington DC. Our composer is available on a case-by-case basis.
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT: You or your organization must cover travel expenses, accommodations (food/taxis/gas/lodging), and an honorarium of $2500/speaker. Filmmakers may be available for phone/video Q&A sessions for an honorarium fee of $250/speaker.
What do you recommend for a program following the screening?
In our experience, audiences need at least 15 minutes to debrief the film following the screening before jumping in to a related topic or panel. Providing audiences with an opportunity to speak with the filmmakers, to ask them about some of the choices and challenges in creating the film, as well as clarification, often provides people with a more fulfilling, complex experience.
I want to reach out to other communities to co-sponsor the screening. How can I do this?
We highly recommend bringing together diverse audiences, especially from Jewish, Arab, Muslim, Christian, and peace-related constituencies, as well as journalists and decision makers. We can help to identify individuals and groups from your city that have requested the film or DVD so you can reach out to them. For example, in Seattle, 12 organizations -- some that had never worked together before -- cooperated to bring Encounter Point to the NorthWest Film Forum. We would love to see other cities and communities follow through in order to begin to build bridges between them.
Are there materials to accompany the film?
There is a Community Screening Guide in English, a Classroom Screening Guide in English that can be dowloaded for free at www.encounterpoint.com, a Hebrew Classroom Screening Guide that can be ordered by sending an email to Anat(at)justvision.org and we are finalizing an Arabic Screening Guide.
Is the film appropriate for children?
Encounter Point can be watched by children age 11+ if they are mature so long as there is debriefing from parents or teachers. There is one scene with an open casket of a young girl (a funeral scene) so that could be traumatic. There is talk of bereavement even though ultimately it is a hopeful film. We've had 11 and 12 year olds see it and love it, we've had a 14 year old see it and not get it, so it depends on the child. The entire film is subtitled, so their reading level would have to be strong.

I am an educator in Israel or Palestine and I want to organize a screening. How can I?

What does the screening guide include?
The screening guide includes topics and questions for structured discussion following the film.
I would like to organize a screening of Encounter Point on my college campus.
There are two ways to go about it:

This is most effective if you:

--Do extensive campus outreach, as well as outreach to local communities
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT: $1000/screening plus shipping (35mm film print, HD or Beta tape —please check for availability). Shipping must be done via Fedex or DHL so the prints are trackable.

How is Just Vision Funded?
Just Vision receives funding from more than 300 individuals and family foundations, primarily but not exclusively from across North America, as well as from private and public foundations. We also receive in-kind donations, including legal, printing and research services. Finally, we receive licensing fees for broadcasting the film, DVD sales and screening fees. Our donor base reflects a broad constituency and not a single ethnic or religious group. We continue to reach out to secular, Jewish, Muslim and Christian communities.
Just Vision retains full editorial control of our content. We do not accept any funding that would require us to cede editorial control of our documentary film or educational materials.
Tax-deductible donations are accepted online at www.justvision.org or by check, payable to: Just Vision Inc., a registered 501(C)(3) organization. Checks can be sent to; Just Vision, POB #226 123 Seventh Ave. Brooklyn NY 11215
Where Are You Based?
Our headquarters is based in New York. Our staff telecommutes from: Jerusalem, New York and Washington, D.C. All print correspondences can be sent to: Just Vision, 123 Seventh Avenue, PMB #226, Brooklyn, NY 11215
Do You Take Any Political Stand?
Just Vision is non-partisan. We are not affiliated with any political or religious movement. We highlight the work of Israeli and Palestinian civilians who are working to build a base for peace in the Middle East through non-violent means.
How Do You Select Your Interviewees?
Just Vision has 4 criteria for selecting the interviewees to be profiled as part of our Online Network for Peace. Each interviewee is:
A civilian
Locally-based (in Israel/Palestine)
Engaged in non-violent activities
Crossing the “Green Line” in a cooperative way (i.e. Israelis and Palestinians working together).
Our subjects reflect an extremely broad range of political perspectives, geographical locations and religious affiliations. They do not all agree. We believe that it is critical to learn about the spectrum of opinions emanating from individuals in the region who are most committed to ending the conflict and ensuring the well-being of both societies.
What is the Difference Between Just Vision and Other Peace Organizations?
Just Vision is not a peace organization. We connect local non-violent peace workers in the Middle East to audiences abroad, especially in North America. We do this by creating documentary film about their work, and in-depth educational materials highlighting Palestinian and Israeli ndividuals from a wide array of backgrounds, ages, genders, religious affiliations and more, who are working for peace in the region through non-violent means.
How can I buy a DVD?
The DVD is now available through our distributor, Typecast Releasing, as well as on Netflix and Amazon.com. The DVD includes additional and extended scenes, footage from screenings and audio commentary. Please note that public performance rights still require you to pay a fee to show the film to groups of 15 people or more outside of classroom use. Please read below for details on how to schedule a screening.
Pricing for purchase is as follows:
$24.99 fpr personal use and screenings under 15 people.
$350 for institutions (universities, colleges, high schools and libraries).
See our screening terms for info on how you can bring the film to a community group, religious center or other location.
How long is Encounter Point?
The English subtitled version runs 85 minutes. The DVD also include a choice of subtitles in Arabic, French, Portuguese or Hebrew. There is also a 60 minute version in Arabic and Hebrew.
What formats are available for screenings?
English subtitled version:
We have four 35mm prints, so you would have to ensure that one is available for your screening. We have an HD version of the film, a digibeta NTSC, a beta SP NTSC and DVDs. DVD format is the lowest quality for a large-scale screening so we recommend a higher resolution or quality format. The DVD also comes with a choice of Portuguese, French, Arabic and Hebrew subtitles.
Arabic/Hebrew/English (all three languages simultaneously) subtitled version:
We have one digibeta PAL and one beta SP PAL version as well as DVDs and VHS tapes for screening. The digibeta PAL and beta SP PAL versions are of far greater quality.
Are distribution rights still available?
Most distribution rights are not available. Please contact Julia Bacha (Julia(at)justvision.org) for information. Canadian broadcast rights were bought by CBC and Arab language broadcast rights were bought by Al Arabyia. DVD distribution in the US is being done by Typecast Releasing.
I would like to bring Encounter Point to my community. How can I do this?
There are several ways of bringing Encounter Point to your local community:
Buy or rent Encounter Point to screen in a community venue.
This option works best if you:
--Want a more private event or have a specific audience in mind or
--Want to work with other local organizations to co-sponsor the screening
--Do not have a theater available
--Want to screen the film only once as opposed to a week-long run in a theater
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT: $300/screening for public performance rights plus shipping (DVD, 35mm film print, HD format or Beta). Shipping must be done via Fedex or DHL so the prints are trackable.
Please contact screenings(at)jusvision.org to book.
Work with a local cinema to screen Encounter Point (ideally for multiple screenings).
This option is optimal if you:
--Want to bring together a diverse range of audiences in a neutral space
--Partner with other organizations to reach out to your respective networks
--Do extensive outreach (email list-serves, put up posters, create and distribute fliers)
--Are confident that there will be a strong turnout
FORMATS: 35mm print, an HD version, beta SP NTSC, digibeta NTSC and DVDs. DVD is the lowest quality for a large-scale screening so we recommend one of the other formats for a theater screening. Check with us about availability of beta tapes and 35mm prints (which must be returned within two days).
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT: $500 guarantee v. 35%-50% of box office sales (in Canada, US, Europe, Australia) depending upon the venue plus shipping.
Please contact screenings(at)justvision.org to book.
